Recap of Sept 18th Countering Christian Nationalism event

On Sept 18th, the NH Council of Churches held the third in our 3-part series. This video below contains the entire evening's panel.

We explored how Christian nationalism and associated white supremacist ideologies use the 7 Mountain Mandate—family, religion, education, media, entertainment, business, and government—to shape society. We took a closer look at two of these pillars: public education and government.

Speakers included Holly Testerman on the 7 Mountain Mandate; Olivia Zink on threats to democracy; and Zandra Rice Hawkins on the impact on public education. Then we shifted to practical tools for dismantling these ideologies - James McKim introduced “Courageous Conversations” and concluded with Rabbi Kirshbaum and Pastor Ilgenfritz sharing their recent interfaith dialogue in Bethlehem, NH as a case study.

Event co-sponsors include: NH Council of Churches, Manchester-NAACP, American Friends Service Committee, Engage, Outright New Hampshire, Open Democracy, 603 Equality & more.
