“Unmasking Christian Nationalism in American Life: Institutions, Ideology, and Impact: Impacts on Government & Family” is the 1st of a 3-part series on how this ideology is playing out in government and family life. We will examine concrete examples of how this version of white supremacy influences legislation, administrative decisions, civic participation, and public narratives about families, gender roles, authority, and belonging.

Reverend Heidi Carrington Heath will explore how Christian nationalism uses the language of “family values” to advance policies that limit freedom, reinforce hierarchy, and exclude many families from full participation in community life. Lisa Beaudoin will examine how Christian nationalist ideology shapes governance, weakens democratic norms, and concentrates power.

Christian nationalism is an organized political ideology that seeks to reshape core institutions of American life by merging a narrow interpretation of Christianity with political power. Its impacts are already visible in public policy, governance, and the ways families are defined, regulated, and valued.

This series is intentionally reclaiming the religious narrative that Christian nationalism distorts. The life and ministry of Jesus were rooted in resistance to empire, solidarity with those pushed to the margins, and a fierce commitment to liberation, dignity, and love. Sessions will center that tradition as a resource for faithful civic engagement rather than withdrawal from public life.

Attendees will be provided with practical tools and the names of organizations already engaging in resisting this version of white supremacy in NH.

Part 2 in this series will look at how the institutions of education and business/economy are impacted by Christian nationalist ideology, details coming

All are welcome!
